Busy year!

In March, we rolled into Austin for SXSW, and played a blazing show at Emo’s outside, nearly 1700 people in attendance! Also did this super great outside party at some place called Chickenwire Ranch. It was called Fuck By Fuck You, and this was their fifth. The following year, we played their sixth.

In May, a Japan tour with Mono. Really fun and well organized tour! Also helped get our records out in the Japanese stores on their Human Highway label. It was also on this tour we met Masami Kawaguchi, with whom we are planning some shows with 2020! That’s him on the right in that last photo.

In June, a quick West Coast tour with …and You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead. Here are some shots from a San Francisco show at The Fillmore. Amazing to play at the much-storied and fixture of SF! Trail of Dead played a frenzied step. That last (blurry) shot of Conrad on drums is a moving gif, if you hit the image.

In July, another West Coast tour. This time with Bardo Pond.

In July, we joined forces with Built to Spill in a benefit for the excellent Fantagraphics. Fun night, and the poster art was over the top, with art from Daniel Clowes, R. Crumb, Peter Bagge, Johnny Ryan, Gene Deitch, Jim Woodring, Chris Ware, and George Herriman :

In October, Kinski were honored to do a short tour (just Seattle & Portland) with heavy, droney Swedish psych legends Träd, Gräs Och Stenar, which began a long and enduring friendship. They started in 1967, but this was their first time in the U.S. The Portland show also included Steve Malkmus, a huge fan who was massively instrumental to their arrival in the US. Do yourself a favor and check them out if you haven’t already!

Barrett joins team Zagreb, Croatia, for some 3am basketball

Dreikonigskeller in Frankfurt. I think the name means something like “three kings hanging out in a basement” in German or something…

We played this bar more than once. Every time was unbelievably awesome, the bartender was basically ELVIS PRESLEY and the staff were the best. Incredible people. Great spot:

Guess I’m Falling in Love, a 7” single b/w “Hiding Drugs in the Temple,” was released by the (now defunct) label The Great Pop Supplement in November. “Guess I’m Falling in Love” is a Velvets cover, and “Hiding Drugs in the Temple” is the result of a Tascam 4 track fucking up during a rehearsal recording. We thought it was cool and the world needed it. Very limited (an edition of 117 copies or something) and handmade covers.
